Banned Books Week: September 27 - October 4
Each year the library celebrates 'Banned Books Week,' an initiative of the American Library Association. Banned Books Week celebrates our freedom to choose and our freedom to read. Many of the books that are banned or challenged each year are books for youth and teens. Take a look here at the most frequently challenged books of 2007. You may have read many or most of them already. You can read some teen reactions to banned books in this article in The Onion. Banned Books Week also has a page on Facebook. Go ahead, take a look and don't forget to exercise your right to read!
